I find it funny that a lot of Christmas media revolves around some kid having a crisis of faith regarding the existence of Santa Claus. Like, a kid no longer believing in him is some sort of tragic loss of innocence, and that faith in something that doesn't exist is still beneficial.
I deduced that Santa wasn't real when I was somewhere around 4 or 5. I figured that Santa didn't really work for Hasbro or Mattel, and the penmanship on the gift tags was identical with my mom's. And when I came to that revelation, I wasn't sad. I just shrugged, because I knew I would still get gifts anyway.
Yeah, I noticed the penmanship, too. But I was 7, because I was blind as a bat, and didn't get glasses until I was 11. I didn't say shit, because if I mentioned that Santa wasn't real, I might get cut off from presents, as a result.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
