I may be anthropomorphizing but I think she may be sad that she was separated from her pups - that happened at the shelter before we adopted her. We didn't even know the pups were hers until after we had already decided to adopt her.
Whatever the case, she is really adjusting to life outside the shelter, and her personality is starting to show through.
