Darwin never called it evolution*, you clod. It was his publicist Thomas Henry Huxley who coined the term.
And while Darwin may have started out coe he ended up agnostic, largely due to his scientific discoveries (yes he did more than formulate the Theory of Evolution, he was one of the century's leading geologists, and any century's leading expert on barnacles especially barnacle sex).
* But he did use the word evolve.
