I promised to take A Certain Person on a trip to the LOTR locations in NZ, especially including the Hobbiton site at Twizel. I'd have much preferred to take Sam, she fell in love with the films and Frodo in particular, but yeah. Maybe I'll go on my own one day.
I can see the quarry where they filmed Helm's Deep from my lounge window.
And the site used for Rivendel is about 15 minutes' drive from my place.
They left one of the set arches in place.
