Do you live in a city? Do you know what it's like to confront an intruder? I lived in cities most of my life, and I do know what it's like to confront an intruder face-to-face.. I didn't have a gun, either. I had a pickaxe on my shoulder, and thankfully that was enough. 

Yes i have lived in plenty of cities some with high crime rates(Mexico city )  . Never bought a gun . Yup i have confronted a intruder i scared him off by yelling . 

Perhaps it is. And perhaps people actually use guns in self-defense. Statistics are argued in that event, but a floor of thousands of uses a year doesn't seem unlikely.

Or maybe they have been sold culture of fear . 

In either case, your advice is pabulum, easy words. In the meantime plenty of folks are stuck in bad 'hoods. Would you deny them the right to defend themselves?

Yes i don't view defence as justification for Americans current gun policy . And if the fix is the democratic system then it's still needs to be fixed .
