It is working for the good of all rather than a few.
No, it is pernicious evil that values the "common good" (as defined by the State) over individual liberties.
No. it is about not having all the benefits of a society heaped on a few individuals.
I see a little history lesson is in order.
There has always been socialist like ideas floated. The first time we see them written is by Plato in his republic.
But the modern understanding of socialism was created in reaction to the unbalanced world of Victorian Europe, where the masses toiled in terrible conditions purely for the benefit of the wealthy factory owners.
The idea was to share the profits of shared labour more equally amongst the workers so that the standard of living for the many was improved at the expense of the uber wealthy tyrants were using them mercilessly.
Examples of a socialist and beloved system is the NHS where we all pay what we can so that no one struggles with the burdon of health costs when ill. It works fantastically and I don't know how my family would have coped without it.
So basically you are wrong at a fundamental level.
You may be getting socialism confused with Stalinist communism which is a common mistake among americans for some reason. Its almost as though your educational system routinely lies to you all!
You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.
