California (I live here.) doesn't know what they want. In order to control immigration you must enforce immigration laws. I hear no suggestions from California on how to effectively control immigration. All they want to do is impede any efforts at enforcement.
Immigration laws here in California were enforced long before Trump and Sessions came along. President Obama was called the deportation president by the Latino community because of the high number of deportations made during his administration.
The problem with the current administration is they are obsessed with getting everyone out, including immigrants who've lived in the US for decades and lived otherwise law-abiding lives and also including immigrants who've served in the US military. This broad-brush approach is a problem, not a solution.
Also, California is the 6th largest economy in the world. Many immigrants here work hard, start small businesses and otherwise contribute to our economy. We have a successful economy in the Golden State because of immigrants, not in spite of.
