A second century neo-platonist writer who, c 180 AD, wrote a denunciation of christians. The only reason we know of him is because the 3d century xtian writer, Origen, wrote what he thought was a refutation of Celsus' complaints in a work entitled Contra Celsus ( Against Celsus) and quoted large portions of the original work. When xtian thugs burned the libraries of antiquity they made sure that the works of their writers were preserved which is how we know of Porphyry and Celsus.
