Was that such a bad thing? The word wasn't even coined until 1911 and then only to refer to schizophrenics. Now it has exploded to the point where the scale is so vast that it seems to be everywhere. They pump kids full of ritalin or other drugs at the drop of a hat these days because they can't sit still in class and the schools hate that so they are willing co-conspirators with the drug industry because they want obedience. I don't know. It seems to me that someone is making a whole lot of money off of this.
I'm probably just being a cranky old fart, again.
Anyway, Hammy. As far as I'm concerned you're fine.
This has crossed my mind as well, but upon further research and watching my nephew, I've come to believe it really is a disorder in brain function rather than just a personality trait. I'd love to think you were right though.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
