We may need to go back to barbaric roots in some fields. Perhaps this is why the Prophet is reported to have said "I eat with my hands and lick my fingers, who doesn't like my way, is not from me" (I don't know how accurate the hadith is but it's part of long seemingly sincere advice to Abu Dhar).
We don't have to eat with out hands or lick our fingers, but being disgusted at it, perhaps, we are to arrogant and leaving our barbarian roots too much, that we belittle too many humans of the past.
The Quran discusses heavens, death, life, war, peace, birth, marriage, love, hate, and you focus on licking the fingers after food?
For this exact reason -leaving what matters and holding to what doesn't matter-; Muslim institutions got to the bottom of the barrel.
It's sad; really. But hilarious if you think about it: the difference between a disbeliever and a believer, is a finger lick after food? The writers of the Hadith were quite...myrmidon?? if you ask me.
