Who else can register a distress call other than the consciousness considering that plants do not have a brain?  

lol I dunno, Ricky.  Like...tons of other living things that react and respond to stimuli, but that are NOT conscious.  If the article you linked to was demonstrating that plants are conscious, why didn’t they use that word anywhere in its content?

Obviously you do not pay too much attention to what you read in the artcle.

Read here woman...............it say.................Clearly, plants can communicate..........and then it say............There's also evidence that plants can hear themselves being eaten.............and then it say............Trees in a forest, for instance, can warn their relatives of insect attacks........and then...........The scientist learned that the mature trees "communicated" to the network to share nutrients through their root systems to feed nearby seedlings until they were tall enough to take in light for themselves..............

Now you tell me how on earth plants are able to communicate without something that can register all this?
Can't you understand that the only thing that is able to do this is the consciousness?
