I would also say, that discussing with civility, has nothing to do with being offended or someone making you uncomfortable IMHO. Some people get offended by anything and everything no matter how it is done, and whether or not there is really any issue. I can explain something logically and rationally, and someone may be offended, because they don’t like the conclusion. It does mean that I was uncivil.
How is it not a safe space? It literally is supposed to be a part of the forum where you won't be insulted, even if you say the stupidiest most preachy shit on the planet. Thats a safe space.
Aldo there are already several places on the forum for this already. Including the not very frequently used 'debate area' I can't see this turning into anything other than a platform for theists to preach, be insulting and not get called cuntbags when they act like them.
I guess if staff agrees to give this a shot and do a trial run, we'd just have to see what happens. But that certainly isn't my intention for the subforum.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
