Quote:Some things to consider...Society does not know how to think unbiasedly. everything get filtered though a biased source otherwise you would have stampedes/riots as we did a few years ago when people were allowed a glimps of what happens when they think on their own.
How does society as a whole tend towards biased thinking or not?
Quote:How do you recognise bias in you own life? When fact has no bearing on what I think. For example Kim jong un and the president of south korean both said they would not be talking about ending the war and giving up nukes IF not for trump's intervention.
Yet we still see trump as a bumbling idiot who doesn't know what he is doing and is leading us to war...
The truth Trump has ended an on going war that is almost 70+ years old and he is paving the way to take the nukes out of the hands of the north koreans forever. This is eace prize level stuff here, yet he can't even get an acknowledgement from our biased media.
Therefore when ever I see my self act this way. to 'feel a person is bad/despite what he is doing' I can identify bias in my own life.
Quote:How does one ride themselves of bias?Is it an exercise of will or simply something you learn (free will vs determinism)?Biased is sourced from Pride. seek to let go one's pride.
Quote:Is bias a myth? If it is, what is our (your) role in coming to grips with being wrong (or at least incorrect) or not? Can one justify never being wrong from a theoretical standpoint?one has to enter a state of delusion inorder to up hold the idea of never being wrong.
Quote:What would be required to believe (heh) that one does not have any biases?that he has a fool proof system of men and women dedicating themselves to learning and explain all the secretes of the universe and with in a short 300 years have masted all knowledge in the universe because we know how to launch a rocket to the moon and we have cell phones with the internets on them. With such an organization who's success rate is often hidden by it's core doctrine of ever learning new and different things, it is hard to not believe that one has access to absolute knoweledge.
Quote:Is it easier for you to separate seeing bias in others or yourself more?I am an objective person given all side 100% oppertunity to 'pan out.'
Quote:How does our perception tie into our biases?perception defines reality, for a stupid person who think their reality is the only reality that can be... then they will be lead around by their bais.
Quote:Are our tools to measure the universe fallible due to bias? Why or why not?Our tools to measure or even observe the univers are fools toys.
We occupy one singular point in the cosmos, relitively a singular point in time (in relation to how long everything elses has been here) staring an expanse so large and vast, we depend on the universes 'sea spray' to try and understand something like the ocean from a single dimension.
Imagine trying to explain the whole ocean and everything living it from sea weed to the mysteries of the deep, through the lens of a shot glass worth of sea water at a time. now tell me you would have a theory having looked at 300 years worth of shot glass sea water that would accuratly describe the visible universe/oceans let alone all of it..
We are so stupid to assume we know anything of value. we can't even survey every part of this planet let alone tell you what is really going on 100 trillion light years away.
