I don’t think it does. Futurama kept getting cancelled by the network and brought back, many times. It has a loyal fan base. It’s not as popular as the Simpsons but the Simpsons was a groundbreaking cartoon, and had several years on Futurama already.

I outgrew the Simpsons, the jokes are aimed at kids, which is fine. Futurama always seemed more mature, plus it has almost limitless storylines due to it being set in the future. Some of the Simpsons stories fall terribly flat.
