I don't think there's more homosexuals in churches, but I would think that for a homosexual raised in a religious community, it's natural to go seeking for self-help by working in churches rather than live a life as outsider and in paranoia (dodging the dangerous questions like "Why isn't he married yet?" or "Why do we never see him with a woman?").
The alternative would be either being an outcast or leaving one's community behind (which childhood indoctrination keeps most people from).
