That's where I pick up the book I reserved after reading a sample chapter on Amazon. </minimalist cheapskate>
In a world of minimal resources and only an allotted amount of time, this is a good strategy. You read enough to know you would like it, read the rest for "free" and don't have that book consuming space in your house. I've had authors recommended to me that I didn't like the writing style. Disappointing when I lay down my hard earned cash for something I ultimately don't like. If my local library had more books of the type I like, I'd be reading them. I seem to have to buy them, instead. Principally science fiction, with a smattering of what I'd call "math groupie" books, for lack of a better term. I already have plenty of the "real" math books, left over from university days.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
