Those are entirely separate issues. I don't see how anything is "blown". For what it's worth, the Democrats are still talking about immigrants. I believe there were several court cases filed this week.
Quote:Maxine Waters and Peter Fonda only added fuel to that fire and Trump's poll numbers have been on the rise. Last night's NY dem primary had a young socialist community organizer unseat a long time House dem. So not a good time for the Dems.
Trump's poll numbers haven't been on the rise. Even the conservative leaning pollsters don't agree on that: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_c...ex_history If anything, they've stayed about the same.
Your point about the unseating of the long time House dem only matters if you're certain that New York won't show out to vote for her. They probably will.
Quote:For the second part, voters have short term memories....and too bad for Hillary she didn't make that a campaign issue. I think if GOP candidates will campaign how that Dems opposed the tax cuts and how that Dems have said they will resist Trump and the GOP, ....so now, more than likely, they'll try to obstruct a SCOTUS nominee. The Dems have no message going into the midterms other than resist Trump.
A GOP candidate will campaign based on the fact that Democrats oppose a GOP president and the GOP? Wow, what an amazingly original strategy. Newsflash, that happens every election, for both parties. Democrats want a Democrat led government. Republicans want a Republican led government.
How exactly, do you think Democrats can obstruct a SCOTUS nominee? As far as I'm aware, they don't have enough votes to do anything. If the SCOTUS appointment gets blocked, it will be because Republican(s) vote Nay.
No. I'm talking more along the lines of how GOP candidates can spin some of these issues in the midterms...
Those issues where far left activists are mobbing and harassing GOP office holders and Trump cabinet members can still be spun into the same issue because that's why activists and Dems like Maxine Waters are calling on people to publicly harass them.
Yeah, the Dems are still talking about immigration but now some of them are talking about about abolishing ICE. ...and with 84% of the electorate opposing sanctuary cities and believing that illegals should be turned over to federal authorities how well do you think that will go over with voters...
https://focuswashington.com/2018/06/28/d...ry-cities/
The newcomer who unseated the longtime dem is a socialist. That can be spun to how far left the democrat party is moving...and with calls from other Dems and activist candidates like Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand, Cynthia Nixon calling for the abolishing of ICE and supporting open borders, ie, it could be easily done.
A GOP candidate can campaign on how Dems oppose tax cuts, strong borders, strong military, etc....that strategy.
Dems will likely come out against a SCOTUS nominee with their usual fear tactics of roe v Wade being overturned, lgbt rights being reversed, and they'll more than likely lead a smear campaign against a SCOTUS nominee like they did against Clarence Thomas in an attempt to turn the public against whoever Trump and the GOP supports for Kennedy's SCOTUS seat. In fact, Dem candidates and office holders are launching into their fear campaign against a SCOTUS nominee already, and noone has yet been nominated..... I'm taking about opposing and holding up in that way.
