"Slumlords" are not new. Renting is renting from a business. And like any business, the owner doesn't want to lose money by spending money. That is not to say every business owner in the world are complete dicks. Just saying it does not surprise me.
I've dealt with buying a house, and while for the most part it has worked out, I did hate the lack of answers at certain points and the delays , and the fact that their sub contractors screwed up my neighbor's yard installing my house, and cant get the company who I bought it from to fix a small patch of yard.
An even worse experience I had was back in 07 when my mom bought a handicap van under my name because she couldn't drive. It was an after market install by a different company than the dealer who made and installed the automatic ramp. Two different companies. One, the dealer, and the second the ramp maker. We had problems with the ramp chip communicating with the van computer which controlled the door. It was a fucking bitch to get it fixed because the two companies would argue over whose responsibility it was.
