I just recently replaced a fridge for a tenant. It was a better model and basically the same size. You might have a bad landlord and a stupid one two. Even after you leave, the fridge will remain and future prospective tenets will see the fridge and probably decide to look elsewhere for housing. You could say that the the landlord has violated the terms of the lease by reducing the services to which you contractually agreed but a confrontational approach rarely works. You have to see thinks from their side too. Landlords get burned by bad tenants all the time. It seems that things start to magically break and stop working immediately after they move in. Don't be that guy. As a landlord, I refuse to renew leases with "problem" tenants. Your better approach would be to inform the the landlord and nicely suggesting that he/she was screwed by the appliance vendor. Because, you know, maybe he was.
