At that point, you feel normal with it, and feel like shit without it. You never feel like you have extra energy from drinking it. It's just getting you back to normal.
I'm down to 2-3 cups a day. If I know I'm going to need a boost, e.g. have a long drive starting at 2, I skip it in the morning (or just have one cup of half-caf), so that when I drink a cup at 1:30, it has a noticeable effect.
