Discovered that when my computer hard disk controller says that a hard disk in an array has "failed," it doesn't mean it's dead, just that it hiccuped or something and needs to be re-inserted into the array. On the plus side, I thought my new 2TB RAID 1 mirror had crapped out, when it hadn't. On the minus side, I spent $38 on a replacement drive for my other disk array, and now I don't need it. It came off ebay and I have 30 days to return it, but I think that I pay shipping, so I just may keep it for the day when a hard drive really does crap out.
