Instead of talking in particular, your leaders vs our leaders, sort of thing, it's better to talk about in theory what can be guidance and what cannot be. And the Bible and Quran both manifest whether the stories in the past are fiction or not, they are possible, and when showing something doesn't work, all you have to do is shown a possible error or possible norm of error, and then show a solution.
The solution is the name of God is the proof, and so only those who are his beautiful names, can nominate his names and it started from Adam and Seth was set by God, and that's how it was meant to be, a leader set by God with proof to be followed, but people equated normal people with such proofs of God and leaders from God till the corruption in Noah's days.
Religion is not meant to be some from God and some from opinion, and some truth and some falsehood, it's meant to be guidance from God in a perfect manner, and that is why leadership is the heart of the issue.
All the holy books talk about it, but it's the guided people to the true leaders who will emphasize on it.
