Of course, it won't matter. Modern GOP supporters appreciate bluster and 'powerful displays' like Kavanaugh's tantrum over intelligence and character. Rubes, one and all.
They’re running out of time before the mid terms, and they wasted a week or more doubling down.
They probably also think that it won't matter. They have complete control of the government until the midterms, their base is vile and eats this shit up, and even though there's some hope that the House will flip blue, it's incredibly unlikely that the Senate will. So, the only potential danger is this playing worse than expected in deep red states.
