Meh.  I'm glad to see this development, but not hopeful.  Trump is likely reopening the investigation to undercut Democratic furor in the upcoming elections.  And it's probably a prudent calculation on his part.

That was my thinking before hearing that Murkowski wouldn't confirm him without an FBI investigation. As I noted in slack, that Flake had called for a delay seemed to indicate that the Republicans didn't get what they were looking for out of the closed door meeting with Manchin, Flake, Collins, and Murkowsky after the hearings yesterday. Given that Trump has caved, likely at the request of Republican leadership, suggests that they really didn't get what they wanted out of that meeting.

(Thinking about it now, Murkowsky alone probably wouldn't have been sufficient. There is a mix of a handful of senators, any one of which voting to confirm would seal the deal. This leans towards suggesting even that much may be in doubt.)
