Just out of curiosity, do you want to live in a world where your daughter gets raped and her rapist continues to rape other women, and then the president of the United States makes light of the assault against her and gives her rapist the authority to decide the fate of other rapists? Do you want to live in a world where your daughter is afraid to come forward about the attack perpetrated against her because people will say that some attacks warrant prison time, but other attacks -particularly her attack- should be swept under the rug because the attacker is in the good ol' boys club? Would it be okay if your daughter was raped and officials laughed at her and dismissed her allegations?
Do you want to live in a world where people who lie to and mislead the FBI, the senate and the American people get to decide the fates of other people who lie and mislead officials? Judge Kavanaugh does not deserve a promotion. That's it. If charges follow any of this, that's separate and aside from consideration for a promotion. Promotions are for the people who warrant them and not getting one doesn't destroy a person's career.
These allegations are something that will stick in the minds of people for the rest of his life. Some will believe them and some will not. This will follow him no matter what path he takes in his career. No. I don't want to live in the world which you described, as well as the world which I described. I want to live in a world in which justice is served for both men and women.
Yes, they will stick in people's minds. If you don't want things like this out there, then don't sexually assault women. It's that simple. Just don't do that.
The message for people... all people is that the things you say and do become a part of this world once you do them. Conduct your life responsibly and with the expectation that records of your actions are being noted. If you do something wrong to someone... if you offend them or hurt them, make that thing right rather than kicking and screaming on the defensive (and very much offensive) as Kavanaugh did.
The correct answer to this whole debacle was for Kavanaugh to have immediately placed a phone call to Dr. Ford to address this with her personally. He needed to apologize and explain to her that what he did (if he did it while he was blacked out), was clearly wrong and that he did not continue this behavior into his adulthood. He should have offered her his heartfelt support and have offered to try to help her heal in any way that he could.
He utterly disgraced himself with the temper tantrum he threw before the senate committee.
