I really think he thinks that the words themselves have magical powers, and if he just blasts us for long enough someone is going to be touched by them.  He isn’t well.

I agree, he isn’t. He needs help, and I sincerely wish he would get it. I would hope that considering how he is constantly setting himself to fail here might make him reflect a little, and notice that his behaviour isn’t rational.

I think he is getting medical help, but he is not fully invested in it, still does not completely believe he needs it, so the behavior continues. That's the nature of his beast, his disorder.
