I see more and more of this lately. I don't know - maybe it's the fact that for the last three years tRump has encouraged a round of ignorance, the likes that hasn't been seen for 60 some years now. And those acting like assholes have finally found a platform to preach their hate from and a plethora of supporters that willingly carry them forward.
People are turning on each other. There's less compassion, less giving a fuck about the other person. The dismantling of humanity on a daily basis is going to drive us to epic levels of hate if we don't put a stop to it.
Hate crimes were up significantly in 2017. I don't know that it's any acceleration of the trend, but things do indeed appear to be getting worse.
