I've come back from class smelling like sweet basil, lavender, the Old California scent of Russian sage and the sticky spice of rosemary. There's a tinge of faint mint from the bee balm I picked right behind my ear. The moon is the barest of crescents - like Artemis' silver bow, and the sky is like one of those delicately jeweled lace dresses, black and faintly sparkling. You can smell wet foliage and the heavy sweet perfume of bay magnolia. It's a good night to be alive. It's a good night to wail out good music.
One day I had a discussion with friends about what made rock different now as opposed to then. I'm not sure when exactly the change over happen - perhaps in the 80's, but one thing is for sure: Now, people rock out to escape life. Back then, people rocked out to celebrate life.
So cheers, folks. Here's some of what was going through my stereo tonight.
