There is compelling evidence that men are abused by their partners at a comparable rate to women, as this huge meta-study of the subject suggests.

While, of course, people are starting to figure out that, yes, men can be abused by women, it really looks like progress is moving slowly. As long as the Duluth Model (which works under the assumption that abuse is committed by men as a way of exercising their power over women; yes, this is often the case, but that only goes so far, especially when you consider that when the subject of female-on-male abuse comes up, this model is more or less forced to go to the same victim-blaming rhetoric they rightly decry when it comes to male-on-female abuse) is the most popular protocol for handling domestic abuse, progress will be as slow as, well, this:





As a result of this assumption, Colorado has a law about domestic abuse that has seen victims arrested for happening to be the man in a domestic violence call.
