I am the first person to be banned from AD.

I was meaning to ask you about that.
Happened while I was on sabbatical.

The forum is pretty quickly becoming a little social club of about 12 people in lockstep with each other, new members are not finding us to be very interesting, and discussion is a bit on the vapid side.

That always happens around the end of the year, as many members take time off for worship activities over the holidays.  

How are you all doing here? Are you liberal atheists or illiberal atheists?

Well, Yonadav, old bean, I probably would have stood up for you, had I been there.
But alas... water under the bridge.  At least you're still here.

Personally, I'm doing great; thanks for asking.

It's hard not to view this situation with some amusement.  It reminds me poignantly of bygone Usenet days, when once I presented myself in a newsgroup which I found frowned upon the use of emoticons   I had the temerity to suggest that the rationale they gave for said policy was a tad pretentious, and the manure hit the ventilator.   Well, I was younger then.

Eventually I became a regular in the group, and hung out for well over a decade -- but I was forevermore defined by that initial skirmish, and disdained by certain elders, no matter how much respect I garnered from other members.

If such things were the worst we had to contend with in our lives, what a placid world this would be.
