I was a bit underwhelmed by the first season. The characters aren't very interesting and the stories have all been done before. But there were a couple of pretty good episodes. I have seen the first two episodes of the second season, and they were not very good. I'm hoping for improvement because I love Seth Macfarlane and I am a Trekkie. I like the concept of a Star Trek type show where the crew are not exactly the galaxy's best, brightest, or most motivated, and the best, brightest and most motivated are not choosing to serve on military starships. Instead of starship captain being a super competitive career, they have a serious shortage of qualified starship captains. People aren't lining up for the job. It seems like there should be a lot to work with there. But it just isn't coming together so far, in my opinion.
