The Romans were not a prudish lot by any stretch, they were comfortable being nude in places like gyms or bath. If you look at the sort of art they put on their walls, cups and other things we would consider it pornographic.
They were far more prudish in public than the Greeks. Rather little of their art is as pornocentric as that of the Hellenes. Even with regard to homosexuality (unless you were Maecenas), they tended to keep it behind closed doors far more than did the Spartans.
BTW, I thought Lawless's character was dead, too.
