I am suspicious of anyone who tries to slip their reply in without quoting or mentioning someone that they're obviously responding to. Reminds me of someone who can't look you in the eyes when they talk to you.
There are times when it is obvious who someone is replying to... but in general, I believe in using the quote or mention feature, or at least putting the person's name in my response.
My suggestion that we should quote one another for clarity somehow comes off to you as "orders?" That's an interesting projection.
