And my research tells me that even Dragnet wasn't the first cop show on television. The first one I found on Wikipedia's list of police shows that I would consider a police show was The Plainclothesman, but it was on the DuMont Network and only four episodes survived (and only one is even on YouTube), so it's understandable that you never heard of it.)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))9))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
I remember watching Dragnet in the 1960's, then Hawaii 5.0 . Magnum was a great favourite a bit later.
Australia also produced its own very popular series in late 60's early 70's, such as "Homicide" (1964-77)
Have you researched any early English cop shows? Eg 'Calling Bulldog Drummond' (1951) and 'Z cars' (1962-78)

I loved 'Moonlighting" for a long time, then went off it. Also loved Bones until Booth and Brennan became an item and Bones got chubby.. Very politically incorrect of me, but I've never found chubby women attractive. (During those years, I was a slyph)
NCIS, . Pretty much from the beginning, because of Pauley Perette (Aby was my dream girl; kind, smart, funny and weird) David McCallum as Ducky. He was also great in the man from U.N.C.L.E . Then Ziva David . Could never stand Gibbs or Denozo -- I ran across Gibbs clones far too often in the army.. A rigid personality ,and a bastard to work with.
Would have just loved to have seen a crime show starring a young Nicole Kidman. She mad one interesting TV show when she was about 22.; "The Bangkok Hilton"
