It's a humanitarian issue. Many of the people in question are asylum seekers. We actively preventing them from doing so. The manner in which we are treating them is shameful.

Well, I didn't but I just looked it up.
Desert, extreme cold and heat, snakes, scorpions, spiders and anti-immigration vigilantes, with hundreds of crossers dying and many more needing to be rescued each year.
You're right, it's no walk in the park.
