I read about this last week... how sad to see such passionate people losing jobs in a field that badly needed funded in the US. I saw the documentary based on the Fermilab Tevatron a few years ago called The Atom Smashers just before the LHC opened. I felt that back then they saw the closing coming due to the LHC. It's a shame.
