And once ya get the reputation, and it gets around, little to nothing will change it.
We were looked at with suspicion anyway...not so much my siblings. We moved there right before I started 6th grade. I had been in (gasp) public schools prior to that and not in a Catholic school. My sister started kindergarten there and my brother was a toddler so there was still hope for them.
To add to that my mother was a (double gasp) Methodist southerner (read: outsider). No good can come from any of that in a town that was mostly Catholic and had been inhabited by the same family lines for years.
