Because the man who can develop/owns a company who only job is to connect the human brain to a computer, which happenes to be on the brink of tying the human brain directly to an AI and communicate with it on a computer speed level know nothing about AI's..

I have a PhD and career history in AI, pre- and post- doctoral. I am a published researcher in peer-reviewed conferences and journals.

Elon Musk is a business man.

He knows fuck all about AI.

I strongly disagree. He's a good businessman, but he clearly cares more about the scientific and engineering aspects of his work. His goal, ultimately, is to advance humanity. IMO, he only excels in business as much as he needs to get proper public and private funding for his ideas. He's a good businessman... but definitely not a great one. Tesla isn't exactly a goldmine for investors. It's a volatile stock. But they're investing in him and his ideas. They're investing in Elon himself.
