Sorry - sexual abuse/assault doesn't get a pass or a pat on the head, or a court appointed therapist.
But I will go on your line. What you are saying is that if you have the misfortune to be a pedophile I should just let you abuse a child and then condemn you to life in prison.
I’ve known of a number of cases (not known them personally) where people who have these urges have sought help themselves so they don’t act on them.
I also personally know a guy (not anymore) who was deported from NZ to Oz for molesting/assaulting a 12 year old boy.
The former I applaud wholeheartedly. The latter should have been locked up for a long time (apparently he’s free now).
Stigma for rapists/kiddy fiddlers should not be reduced.
But those who seek help for their urges before harming others should be applauded, not stigmatised.
