Here we can make a persuasive case that child protection benefits the society in general so enough people think they have enough skin in the game to put up with any inconvenience or imposition. It is clearly not persuasive to major section of even our society that outlawing declawing of cats benefits the society so they would willingly put up with the inconvenience and imposition.
