The cool thing is that it never really does. Take away the allegedly hope creating thing....but lo and behold, people remain hopeful. It’s almost as if hope is a response to stress, or something.
This is convenient, because it does mean that you can take away a damaging thing without taking away the hope that it doesn’t actually create.
As a twofer, it’s been observed that taking away religions ability to inflict harm on others coincides with growing abandonment of the religion.
