What is the purpose of a military if it only exists to perpetuate itself?

You say that it does.
Not I. Nor the military.
You constantly say things based on assumptions.
The purpose of the military is to defend our nation from the various enemies around us.
The military is our martial pride. We call it "the wolf's lair", "the house of the prophets", and with many other names "sublime", "the sun of the nation".

Ah, I get it. To you, the military IS religion! Talk about assumptions ...

You don't.
This country was built by the military, and militarymen.
Atatürk himself was a man that came from the military ranks, and he initiated the events that would lead to the founding of this country in the first place.
