Exactly.
That's disingenuous. The problem with this whataboutism you've brought up is that this past shooting absolutely depended on political ideology. It was the driving factor in why he did it. It was also the driving factor in the crazy Trump fanatic who mailed bombs to the Clintons and Obamas. It was also the driving factor behind the left-winger shooting at the Republican congressional baseball game practice that put Rep. Scalise in the hospital.
We can't just ignore the fact that people are committing violence in the name of politics. Can't just throw it under the rug, and you can't dismiss the problem that contemporary conservatism has with these white nationalist kids. Saying "Hurr durr the other side" doesn't change the facts. It just makes them both wrong. But the conclusion isn't, "Oh they're both wrong. Both bad. Whatever. Crazy people." That's a faulty conclusion that leaves so many stones unturned.
This may sound wild, but shooting at a bunch of innocent people doesn't automatically make you insane. Maybe by societal definition, but not a medical one. If being willing to commit murder made someone insane, then every soldier who ever lived was certifiable. There's more layers to it, psychologically speaking. And the fact that politics in 2019 America is driving people to do these things, is horrifying beyond belief and not something to dismiss so flippantly.
Why is it so goddamn hard for people to condemn the things their side fucks up? Why are we so attached to our sides? This is ridiculous.

Sure it is.
Just not one you will agree on.
He literally did not directly respond to any of my points.
