Unfortunately the image if native Americans living in peace with the land prior to the arrival of Europeans seems to be largely false.    On a per-capita basis, Native American impact to both the ecology of the American continent and global climate were outsized compared to bronze and iron age cultures of the old world, and there seem to have been periods when their global climate impact rivaled our own.
