Ah, that sucks. I have a friend who is in Bosnia or Croatia right now (I forget where her parents live) and I know she said she gets no cell service out there essentially, so she's pretty much off the grid when she goes to visit them.

Yeah, sometimes it gets that bad. Up until a few years ago, the signal of the TELE2 cellular provider on the island of Vir, where I used to have a summerhouse, was so low you couldn't make a phone call except from the shore. And, as far as I see, it's similar for all cellular networks even today in the town (or is it called a village, I don't know right now) of Tikveš, about an hour of driving north from the city of Osijek. I held a presentation about my work on toponyms there on a conference today: you can't rely on mobile phones there. But isn't the same true for many places in the US?
