The dirty truth about the TST is that no one involved was innocent. White guilt & other far-leftist bullshit tells us we're suppose to feel guilty about slavery in America because we're white, or European, or whatever else, but the fact is, Africans of different ethnicities were just as guilty as anyone else for, sometimes, trading their own people, or other Africans that they saw as "below" them.
Africa is an insanely huge and diverse continent... so, as Thomas states, there's no real reason that Africans from, say, Ghana, would see themselves as the same as Egyptians. I agree that that's a more modern, or at least Euro-centrist concept.
The fact that Africans took part in the slave trade doesn't make Europeans or Americans any less guilty, but it's a good fact to keep in mind. Hell, even the Native Americans kept slaves - and were enslaved too.
Slavery is fucked up. But humans have taken part in this for thousands upon thousands of years... if not, longer. It's certainly not a European invention. LOL. Then again, no one worth listening to is suggesting that it is.
