In my short couple years as a soldier I was never in danger but was in a support role training for the possibility of needing to keep a combat communications center operational. That training was my first experience with anything computer-y. I met great people, learned a lot about a lot of different things, challenged myself mentally and physically, and am glad I played a small part.
Forget Trump for a minute and say thank you to a veteran. Chances are if you aren't one someone in you life was or is.
I was married to a veteran. It colored my view of the blind hero worship so many people in the U.S. take part in. That said, I'm very supportive of veterans and am grateful for those who have worked hard for their own good reasons. My grandpa was one of my favorite people. He fought in Korea. I'm just a bit more reserved and careful about my support than most Americans.
Sorry if that was an inappropriate rant.
The thread took a dive before you entered it.
Noted on my part that showing my appreciation is going to wind others up who can't allow that sort of thing to go unchallenged. Sort of like the shitshow that went on after a former TTA member passed away and I mentioned it here for people who knew him.
