Do you think it’s because of military action or simple deterrence or what?
I feel like a lot of combat veterans don’t want to hear it and gold star families especially but I genuinely believe the sacrifice is for nothing like what they claim, I mean, I really don’t believe that my rights are being protected or that I’m safer from foreign aggression at all because of what they sacrificed so I feel like it’s only right to say I don’t want people to do that. Especially since it’s, at least to me, obviously done under false pretenses. I feel like there’s very little sincerity and perhaps no sincerity when it comes to our policy making and therefore the orders our military personnel follow are fruitless. I also feel like it’s a trap to say well respect the troops. I respect the troops as human beings but I think joining the military is a bad thing to do simply because I think our foreign policy is consistently bad.
I'll give a simple answer: In 1940 Gen. George Catlett Marshall told Congress that if, given the current state of the US military, the Germans were to somehow five divisions of troops they could go just about anywhere they wanted to go.
