Don’t upset yourself too much. Just make sure animal control follows up and make it known to your neighbours that there will be consequences if this animal attacks.
I have a cat that follows me down my driveway, which I share with several other houses. At the far end of the driveway are public access steps to the road above.
I returned from a quick trip to the shops to overhear a couple of kids saying “hey, let’s see if we can kick the cat.”
I told them that if they tried to hurt my cat, I’d hurt them.
They told their father some of what I’d said and when he confronted me I told him exactly what had been said.
I could hear him yelling at his kids from my place.
And I got an apology.
