When I was a kid, we let our dogs run around, and do whatever. My parents didn't build a fend, or keep the dogs on a rope in the yard. In retrospect, I think it would have solved a lot of problems if they were kept contained or supervised when outside. Much like Human children....I wish your dog the best in her golden years.
